An expansion joint is gap left in brick or block work. This joint is left to allows walls to move. Over time, building materials as well as the floor contract, expand and move. A flexible joint is required to prevent cracking. If mortar was placed at these key points, it would crack.

One of the most common jobs we get hired for is to replace old and stained caulking. Over time, caulking can deteriorate and become dirty. This is typically a result of moisture sitting on the joints and lack of drying, causing a black coloured mould to build up. This not only looks bad, it can also be unhygienic and damaging to your health.
